On the roof of the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Main Building, I explained the history or some well-known buildings of Yokohama. We had lunch at a cafeteria on the 12th floor of the Prefectural Government New Building. Then we took them to the Yokohama Customs Museum, where the visitors seemed to be interested in the history of the customs, junk articles confiscated at the customs, or shrewd tricks employed in drug smuggling. We moved on to the Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall often called “the Tower of Jack,” where I asked a volunteer guide to explain the hall with a focus on stained glasses in English and French. At the Hotel New Grand, we took a close look at Tengu-no-ma (a room of a long-nosed legendary deity). This room is famous because Jiro Osaragi, a famous writer, stayed there for four years and wrote a novel, Kuramatengu (A Long-nosed Legendary Deity in Kurama Mountain).
