[Place] Yokohama Kohoku International Lounge
[Attendants] 3 KSGG members
[Languages] English and French
The Waku Waku Matsuri, or Exciting Festival, was a great occasion this year, with a lot of groups and individuals regularly associating with foreign residents in Japan invited, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Yokohama Kohoku International Lounge. At its ceremony, the institution recognized the people who had got credit for supporting languages. One of our KSGG members was also awarded. Then a lot of people danced, played music, performed plays in Japanese, and delivered speeches. Finally, they sang Italian songs. As 14 people, including the pianist, sang and played enthusiastically, everyone was moved and delighted, especially, to hear Italy’s national anthem for the first time. When it was my turn, I sang “Les Feuilles Mortes” and “La Marseillaise” in French. Besides singing songs by myself in French at the main hall in front of a lot of Japanese and foreign music fans, I enjoyed all of the various events such as canzone and chanson which were going on in each hall.
