[Date & Time] Thursday, July 16, at 13:00~17:00
[Visitor] An American Mother (in her late 50’s) and her daughter ( in her late 20’s)
[Spots] Kotokuin Temple (Great Buddha), Hasedera Temple, and Tsurugaoka-
Hachimangu Shrine,
[Attendant] 1 KSGG member
[Language] English
We enjoyed talking about their trip experiences after arriving in Japan on July 10. They said they had already climbed Mt. Fuji, and that the mother had been moved by Hikawa Maru, as she had actually cruised on the steamer. When her daughter was in Fukuoka 8 years ago as ALT (Assistant Language Teacher), the mother visited her there. Also, she visited Kyoto and Nara 2 years ago. She said, “I like Japan very much and we have ishi-doro, or a stone lantern, in our garden.” What she said made me realize how pleasant it was to have a crosscultural chat with people I met for the first time.
