“On the bus to Jomyoji Temple, we played a picture-card show and also made an introduction of Kamakura using panels, which were favorably received by the participants. At Jomyoji Temple they showed a great interest in the sound of suikinkutsu (a buried earthen jar that makes sounds when water drips into it) in the garden and tea ceremony. After that we strolled in the bamboo garden at Hokokuji Temple, and at Sugimotodera Temple we saw images of Buddha in the back of its precincts. We got on the bus again and went to Hachimangu Shrine. Hearing our explanations of the shrine, some participants put their hands together. Five or six participants got interested in omikuji, (fortune strips). Some were delighted with the fortunes on the strips and others were disappointed at them, which made a lively and enjoyable scene. From Hachimangu Shrine we headed for Komachi Dori Street, where they walked along the street freely. The participants headed for the next destination after they kindly said that they had a good time.
