When the weather forecast said the day before, “It will be as hot as a midsummer day with its temperature standing at 31 ℃, a new high this summer,” I was daunted, for the visitor was in Tsukuba then to attend the International Computer Science Congress. As he came from Innsbruck, where he usually treks in the Tirol, he aimed to get over Kamakura as is the way with him, but said frankly, “I have never had a hot day like this.” However, it was helpful that humidity was 40% and a breeze was very bracing.
The visitor, who was apparently attracted by yagura, or a type of grave, was as dead as a scientist to washing coins at springs—a heartwarming custom. After all, he was most interested in hiking that uses his legs, but, at Sasuke Inari, he was attracted by a pair of ceramic kiddy fox dolls, and bought them as a souvenir for his sister. We had a chat over various topics during the tour, and covered it completely in some five hours.
