There were Japanese travel agents representing airlines, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Hakuba Ski Resort, and hotels in Kanagawa Prefecture. The guests were people working on the US Navy Base and their families. Their children also joined these events, which made a family-like atmosphere. What interested me was as follows: A participant, who came to Japan only five months ago, wanted to enjoy a Japanese life and go fishing for tuna in a boat. We were greatly surprised at his request. We could have rented a fishing boat, but said, “In Japanese culture we eat tuna, but we don’t catch them for ourselves.” He willingly filled out a questionnaire prepared by the Kanagawa Prefectural Government. He was satisfied to get a wooden bookmark as a gift.
