The visitor, who had already been to Kyoto, Tokyo, and Hakone, was given some voluntary guide services everywhere, and had been moved by the wonderful guide system of Japan. As it was her third visit to Japan, she had already visited many temples in Kyoto. Also, as she could read Chinese characters, she could understand what it said on the 16 children’s statues in the cave of Hasedera Temple. She explained the meaning of each statue to me and we bowed down to all of them with a smile on our faces. We thought, “How great Chinese characters are!”
At Komachi-dori Street we were excited at shopping. The visitor, who likes cooking, was very much interested in Japanese ingredients, and bought lots of them at a supermarket, such as powdered green tea, Japanese noodles, soybean paste, rice cakes, and so on. I had a wonderful day with her, seeing beautiful cherry blossoms at Dankazura and at many other places and meeting a visitor like her with very impressive warm personality.
