At the request of Mrs. WL, a Chinese teacher of KSGG, I guided Mr. Z.WM, her husband, and Chinese residents in Japan around Kamakura with other 10 KSGG members learning Chinese at her class. In the morning, an Outdoor Network Group of 53 Chinese residents in Japan arrived at Hasedera Temple in a large tour bus. The tour started with all of them divided into 5 groups. As most of them were young, they were all cheerful and friendly, and had a lot of fun at “Daikokuten, or Mahākalā, to Touch.” To them, the scenery of Kamakura seen from the height of Hasedera Temple was exceptionally beautiful.
Then we visited Kotokuin Temple. Before they scattered, we took a group photo of all. Then, some visitors, who were interested in the construction of the Great Buddha, entered its inside to check it. At the end of our morning tour, we shook hands with our visitors, saying goodbye before lunch. In the afternoon, at Hachimangu Shrine, we practiced guiding in Chinese under the tuition of Mr. Z. This is our first hands-on practice and, as he corrected our Chinese phrases and pronunciations quickly and efficiently, we gained a good experience. Also, as he gave us hard questions one after another, we had our Mr. O answer them in Japanese. Finally, we toasted to him with beer at a restaurant. It was a very pleasant exchange between Japan and China.
