At this meeting with Mayor Nakata, we first explained what KSGG is. His posture of nodding at times, taking a note, and listening carefully to the presentation by our members from each group of KSGG was very impressive.
Mayor Nakata emphasized, “Let us make Yokohama a town comfortable for people from other countries to live! For example, I would like the care nurses from Indonesia, whom you KSGG people guided around Kamakura, to like and settle in Japan. Also, I would like foreign tourists to like Yokohama and return. To this end, we cannot respond to them enough, so I would like you to lend us your hand by all means.” Also, he added encouragingly, “We will lavish our cooperation on you KSGG, too.” In addition, we were given a piece of invaludable advice from the Mayor. He wanted us to consider adding in our Yokohama touring courses a tour of garbage disposal plants, sewage disposal plants, and filtration plants, for these are the fields into which Yokohama canalizes its energies. We were unable to exchange opinions actively because of the limited time, but we believe it was a unique opportunity for KSGG to broaden its activity range in the future. It was certainly a day when we realized how important it is to meet with a variety of people in a friendly manner.
