This was their first visit to Japan. At Kotokuin Temple, they were very surprised that they could get inside the Great Buddha. At Hasedera Temple, they offered prayers to the 16 deities in the cave. At the quiet Ryukoji Temple, they remembered Saint Nichiren. At Chinatown, they were surprised to see splendid Masobyo (Mazu Temple). I asked a question to them, “Which is the Indian god among Seven Gods of Good Fortune?” They looked happy to answer “Benzaiten” right away. They wanted to have a baby soon, so when they saw a baby, they asked the parents to let them hold the baby in their arms. They said “Japanese babies are very cute, so we felt very happy.” However, when they pressed us for an answer saying, “Prices are very high in Japan, especially the transportation fee is too high. Why can’t we move from Tokyo to Kamakura and Yokohama by using a 1-day pass?,” I was at a loss for the answer. As they were strict vegetarians, they brought instant noodles and sandwiches for lunch with them, saying “There are only a few foods for vegetarians in Japan, and most of them are not spicy. So they are not to our taste.” Unfortunately they couldn’t see Mt. Fuji as it was cloudy. Then I saw them off as they planned to enjoy the night view of Yokohama.
