We had an origami (paper folding) workshop for the first time in two years, which is one of our events to introduce Japanese traditional culture by our Japanese Language Supporting Group. The guests tried to make crane-shaped hina dolls using beautiful Japanese paper with its surface and reverse uniquely lustered to keep the Japanese feature. They were divided into small groups and our 12 members taught them how to make a hina doll carefully on a one-on-one basis. Among them, three male guests worked hard on origami and could make more than they had planned to. They were moved to see their own works, saying “It is great fun folding paper into figures.” As we had enough time, they could have their family enjoy paper folding together calmly without reserve, without disturbing other people. I was more than happy to have a good time with them.
