Meeting of Kanagawa Voluntary Guides in 2010

[Participants] 166 people with 1 guest, 7 speakers, including their attendants, 9 foreigners, 2 directors of other SGG, 9 Odawara/Hakone SGG members, 97 KSGG members, and 42 visitors

In his opening address, KSGG chairman expressed his thanks to the attendants for their understanding of and cooperation in the volunteer activity of our goodwill interpreters. Then we were given from the guests words of gratitude for our goodwill interpretation activities, including our tourists guiding services. After that, the representative of Odawara/Hakone SGG introduced his club and explained how to make Odawara Lanterns in English. On the other hand, KSGG, after introducing its activities, performed in five languages—Korean, Chinese, English, Spanish, and French—roll plays reporting its activities, such as a visit to the wind turbines, and workshops of kimono dressing and Japanese calligraphy.
In her lecture, Ms. Akiko Matsuoka, Executive Director/Trainer of Non-Profit Organization Guide Interpreting & Communication Skill Studies Association, talked about ‘YOU CAN CHALLENGE A JOYFUL GUIDING’ emphasizing how important it is to show the heart of our hospitality with words, attitudes and expressions.
The party at the end was a very exciting one full of chats among the attendants including the guests and foreign visitors, with KSGG members’ music performance in the background.
