KSGG Members Visiting the “Semester at Sea”

We visited the ship “Semester at Sea” according to the invitation by them. We looked around the cabins, classrooms, library, computer room, salon and restaurant. Then, we got back to the hall and had a chat over soft drinks and muffins. Following the greeting, the explanation of the Semester at Sea and musical performance, several students answered our questions They said the most impressive places they visited during their cruise were South Africa, Taj Mahal in India, and the Great Wall of China, and the biggest problems they had were time difference, sea sickness and no internet connections. They also said what pleases them most is to visit an unknown country and touch its different culture. We were happy to hear they say, “What we want to introduce to other people about Japan is Zazen, or sitting in meditation, we experienced in Kamakura. It was a pity, however, that only 16 students participated in Zazen this time. Zazen is so impressive that we would like to recommend it more to other students.” I believe they will remember the vegetarian dish for Buddhist monks, Zazen, and the Priest’s preach as unforgettable memories of Japan.
