A KSGG member guided a securities trader from Singapore, who was born and
brought up in Hong Kong, and works for Daiwa Securities Company in Singapore now.
The guest, who was on a 5-day trip in Japan, turned up on time with a smile. Luckily, the weather was fine, and we could enjoy the plum blossoms and the early cherry blossoms leisurely in the ancient city. Finding that his nationality was noted as Hong Kong in his application, the KSGG attendant said, “You are of Chinese nationality, aren’t you?” Showing his passport, he said, “Hong Kong still has autonomy to issue passports for its residents, so we have Hong Kong nationality when they are issued there.” He also added, “If you are of Chinese nationality, then some restrictions will be placed when you enter foreign countries. That’s why it is convenient to have Hong Kong nationality.”
