They visited Japan on vacation for 2 weeks. They made a lot of plans to enjoy their first trip around Japan to their heart’s content and they were to go to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Itsukushima Jinjya Shrine, and Himeji-jyo Castle following the trip to Kamakura. Although four days had passed after their arrival in Japan, they still suffered from jet lag. When I met them in the morning, they looked very tired and sleepy. However at Hokokuji Temple where they had longed to visit, they looked excited and enjoyed the garden with fresh leaves. In the bamboo grove, we saw bamboo shoots everywhere. Mr. J, who is a teacher at a kindergarten, was moved to see bamboo shoots for first time and took photos of them to show the phots to his students at the kindergarten. Mr. D is a civil servant and made all the plans. In his notebook, he wrote down all the information on train schedules for changing trains and others. They were very surprised to see more people than they had expected. So they told me that they liked to walk around leisurely rather than do shopping. Instead of going to Komachi Dori Street, we walked along a quiet lane with few people by way of Kawakita Memorial Film Institute. It seemed that they often watch Japanese movies, and a movie titled Umimachi Diary (Seaside Town Diary), which they recently watched, was their favorite. As the setting of the movie is Kamakura, they said that they wanted to live in this kind of town when they stood on the very place where the main characters had stood in the movie.
