It was warm the day before, but the weather changed. It had rained since the morning on that day, which was like winter again. I put on a down jacket and took two scarves and a rain gear with me. However, I was surprised when the visitor came to the station in a chilling rain, wearing a thin coat and sandals on her barefeet, and she shivered in the cold. At first, we bought socks and a rain gear at a convenience store near the station, and then took a taxi in order to go to distant places efficiently. But as it was the day of the serpent, we had to get off the taxi on the half way and walk about 10 minutes. At first, we started our tour with a little anxiety. While we were talking that “We might be lucky to have come here on the day of the serpent,” the rain stopped after that and we could take buses as scheduled. She was happy to have Japanese lunch. Moreover, at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine which we visited at the end, a wedding ceremony was held, even though it was evening on a weekday. We were lucky to have a close look at the bridal couple dressed in the traditional clothes and their guests. She was delighted, saying “It was a very lucky day.” She named her child after “bamboo” because she loves bamboo. So she was most fond of Houkokuji Temple out of the places we visited on this day. It was impressive that she enjoyed having macha, seeing the bamboo garden and feeling the silence of a bamboo forest at Houkokuji Temple.
