Guiding an English Family around Kawasaki

I met the visitors at Kawasaki Station and then walked along the old Tokaido Highway.  We dropped in Kawasaki Isago no Sato Museum of Art and Tokaido Kawasaki Shuku Koryukan, where we saw some ukiyoe (Japanese woodblock prints) of Kawasaki Shuku.  They put on the costumes of old travelers once going and coming along the old Tokaido Highway.  They felt like being taken back to the Edo period.  Strolling around Nakamise Dori, hearing “ton, ton,” the sound of cutting candies, and trying them, we headed for Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji Temple, where I guided them around the precincts.  After eating soba (buckwheat noodles) at Shogetsuan, a noodle restaurant with a long history, we visited Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine, Kanayama Shrine near the station and Toshiba Science Museum, where we saw the exhibits of home electrical appliances of old and new and cutting-edge technology.  We finished our Kawasaki tour from the past to the future.
