In order to promote sightseeing intercommunication, the three prefectures written above accepted youngsters and held such events as a welcome party, school visits, and sightseeing for five consecutive days. Tourist Promotion Unit of Commerce, Tourism & Distribution Division of Kanagawa Prefectural Government asked KSGG to send some Chinese interpreters for such events, and our five members took part. Interpreters, including KSGG’s, were each assigned to the 12 round tables. Following a toast and speeches, they enjoyed quizzes and singing “Sakura, Sakura” in Chinese together, arousing the party with more than 100 pupils. We had friendly chats over our dinner, shook hands, saying “Xiexie (Thank you),” and parted. I hoped that the youngsters of a susceptible nature will surely remember international exchange between Japanese and Chinese and enhance their cross-cultural awareness literally through mutual visits, as they say “Seeing is believing.” I am looking forward to receiving lots of requests for Chinese interpretation in the future.
