The student, who majors in “Tourism Science” at a Japanese university, had held two purposes: one was sightseeing and the other, research into the practical activities of a volunteer guide. The tour was conducted in Chinese according to her request. All the western style buildings we visited were in a full Christmas mood and they were very beautiful. She said she was happy to see that all those buildings had been well maintained and surrounded by natural beauty. Also, she said she could enjoy the feelings of western countries and sense something like history in them after the Port of Yokohama was opened.
After lunch, I explained the activities of our volunteer guides using our brochures and reports, and answered to her questions. Finally, she said, “I would like to make good use of what I have learned and experienced today in my future study.”
