The Group of Cambodians and Chinese
We guided 3 Cambodians and 3 Chinese. They have just come to Japan on July 7 and
their Japanese levels were varied. We
started guiding Cambodians in English and Chinese in Chinese. After lunch, one of them wanted a hat and
bought one for 150 yen at a 100 yen shop in front of the station. At Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, three of
them drew paper fortunes and each result was kichi (good luck), chu-kichi,
(average good luck), and kyo (bad
luck). We had an early lunch at a buckwheat soba restaurant. At Hasedera Temple, someone asked me, “When
you water the statue of Mizukake Jizo, which is common, to pour water on its head
or on its shoulder?” I answered “I
always pour water on its head.” Although
they seemed to be tired at Kotokuin Temple because of hot summer, we were relieved
to eat something cold there.
