The daughter working for a Japanese
company planned this two-week trip to show Japan to her parents. We went to the
Great Buddha, Hasedera Temple, where we had lunch on the observatory, Hokokuji Temple and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. They were surprised to find how large the
great Buddha and Hase Knannon are and enjoyed the distinctive atmosphere of the
bamboo garden and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and cherry blossoms which symbolize
Japan. During the trip, I found that Hindu has a great influence on Buddhism.
Both of them have the guardian gods, Bishamonten(the God of treasure),
Benzaiten(the Goddess of Eloquence, Music, and art) and Daikokuten(the God of
Wealth). I heard that Daikokuten with a big tummy is also considered as the God
of Good Luck in India. It was the first
time the mother saw pine trees and the father was a little upset about
the complicated public transportation network in Japan. They enjoyed experiencing various things for
the first time in Japan.
