At Tokaido
Kawasaki Shuku Koryukan, they had
a hands-on experience of Japanese culture by having their photos taken in Kimono for travelers in the Edo period, seeing
some stuff for traveling such as a water bottle, a pillow and so on, and ukiyo-e woodblock prints at the
temporary exhibition on the third floor.
We had the boy’s favorite food, Korean-style barbeque, for lunch. We got
to Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji Temple around 1:30 p.m.
The boys drew omikuji or fortune slips first.
At Mie Festival that started at 2:00 p.m., they heard the monks chant
Buddhist sutras during the Buddhist service and looked serious when they saw
the attendants making offerings to the principal image during the ceremony. After Goma( Fire Ceremony), we prayed to the
principal image at the main hall and made bookmarks with the Chinese zodiac
signs. On NakamiseDori Street, we had kuzumochi (fermented
wheat flour starch cake), and the boys bought Daruma dolls（red-painted good luck dolls）and key rings with the crests of the Oda family and
others often introduced in video games.
