We met at Ofuna Station and walked to Kamakura Budou-kan. At the beginning of the event, we all lined up and bowed to the Rising Sun flag (Japanese flag) raised at the head of the hall. The host shot an arrow at a target, which is the first thing they do in a Kyudo competition, which is called “Yawatashi”. After that, the turn for foreign students to try it came. When arrows were handed to them, they got excited. They were divided into 5 groups and tried to shoot arrows. We applauded whenever we heard the sounds of the arrow’s hitting a target, which made a lively and enjoyable mood. They did not stop their practice except have a quick break. However, time was up quickly, and we lined up again for the closing ceremony. We wrapped up this event, bowing to the instructors who guided us for the day.
