As US Navy Base is not usually allowed for Japanese civilians to enter, everything was new to me and I felt like I experienced a petit American trip because of the use of passport and dollars. With staffers from Tourism Division, Industry Department of The Commerce and Industry Labor Bureau of Kanagawa Prefecture and those from Hakone related areas, we constantly talked with visitors and their families from US Forces about Kamakura and Hakone in particular. Because they did not always come to our booth with interests, we positively had to approach from our side and promote our tours. We found it fun and different from the regular guiding. We were required to finish up each of the explanations within a few minutes so as not to irritate them. We felt it important to talk briefly to the point and use words which attract their interests.
