Yukata Party organized by Japanese Language Support Group

Our guests had yukata dressed and admired them each other, saying "Pretty!"  They  really looked satisfied.  I wonder why they looked nice in yukata as well as Japanese people, even in a different way.  The collaborate performance of the koto or Japanese harp, the shakuhachi or Japanese bamboo flute and the electric piano was wonderful and well worth listening to.  We enjoyed singing, "Sakura, Sakura."  This was our first time to offer the guests a chance to play the shakuhachi.  The shakuhachi player taught them how to play it.  They tried to play the shakuhachi  but had difficulty sounding it.  One of the female guests tried to play it saying that she is practicing  "meditation."  She looked like a meditator with a shakuhachi, which was really great.  Many of the guests enjoyed experiencing to play the koto again this year.  Most of the guests showed a strong interest in Japanese culture, which they came in contact with for the first time.  We received their gratitude for having experienced Japanese culture.
