My guest, Mr. T.A, is a 56-year-old tough-looking shave-headed man from Seattle. He is an electric engineer who works twelve hours a day and athletic person who swims two kilometers every day. He studies Japanese and is interested in Buddhism and Zen. He came to Japan to see how Japanese people teach discipline and manners. There were so many elementary school children on the trail from Jufukuji Temple through Zeniaraibenten Shrine via Genjiyama Park. He took interest in those children saying "Hello!" and volunteer guides warning about kites picking food from children, about whom he asked. We went back to Kitakamakura to see a temple gate of Engakuji Temple, a Zen temple, as we talked about Zen while visiting the Great Buddha in Kotokuin Temple, our goal. I finished my long guiding by seeing him off at the Kamakura Station bus stop at 5:00 p.m.
