My guests had JR passes and knew about Japan quite well because this was their third visit to Yokohama. Although they visited Osanbashi Pier last year, they also wanted to visit there again. They seemed to be less interested in Port Opening Memorial Hall. But, when I first explained about the history of Yokohama starting with Yokohama Park, they began to show a strong interest in the history of Commodore Perry's landing to Yokohama, a war between Satsuma clan and the United Kingdom and so on. How lucky we were! Unexpectedly, the Asuka II anchored Osanbashi Pier! They were so excited and took many photos of the ship. They seemed to be satisfied with the visit to Sail Training Ship NIPPON MARU, which they had wanted to visit just before their coming to Japan. Seeing a photo of the commander of MacArthur, I explained the days of the Occupation. They were interested in the story because Germany, which was once allied with Japan, was also defeated in World War II. They really enjoyed Osanbashi Pier, the Asuka II, and the history of Yokohama.
