Report of Recording Kikimimi World, Walking Audio Tours

The conversation between two persons, a tour host and a guest, as they walk around Yokohama is recorded and provided on the Web. This is a new project by Yokohama City. People who want to experience the audio tour can download the audio files of the conversations and import them into an IC recorder of their own. Then they can walk along the same way that is recorded, listening to the conversation. 4 KSGG members participated in the tours as a host. The 3 tours were recorded in July and its audio files will be uploaded on the Web on August 6.

The 1st time

We started our tour on the Sailing Ship Sail Nippon-maru at 14:00. First the self- introductions of the host and the guest were recorded. Walking around inside the ship until 14:30, Mr. K, the host, answered Mr. G.’s questions in English. Even after we got off the ship, they kept talking in order not to break the sound. We walked to Pukari Pier along the amusement park in Minato Mirai 21, where we took Seabass leaving for Yamashita Park at 14:50. We were relieved to go inside the ship with air conditioning from the pier in the sun. They still kept recording their conversation viewing the Port of Yokohama. We got to Yamashita Park at 15:05 via the Red Brick Warehouse. Immediately after we left the pier, we got on board Hikawa Maru. We were all impressed to receive a warm welcome from the captain. We saw its several facilities, deluxe cabins, and the wheelhouse. After we got off the ship at 15:30, the final greetings were recorded. Then the recording of the 90-minute tour ended. The host and the guest, who continued recording their conversation walking along the way with the microphones in their hand, took a breather over water. The project of recording was completed after their snapshots were taken for the Web.
