This time we enjoyed our first port cruising on Marine Shuttle (Gross weight 764 tons). We went on board at Yamashita Park under the burning Sun. It was cool and comfortable inside the cabin because of air-conditioning. The View Hall on the stem side was the most popular among us. Those who couldn’t take a seat there stayed in the restaurant on the 2nd floor of the stem side, or at the bar on the open deck of the 3rd floor though it was hot due to direct sunlight. KSGG members, foreign visitors, and returnees began to chat cheerfully and laugh here and there right after they got on the ship.
At 1:30 p.m., the Marine Shuttle left Yamashita Park slowly and sailed for harbor entrance via Pier Aka-Renga, passing under Yokohama Bay Bridge. A female guide began to explain about some facilities of Port of Yokohama: Bay Bridge, the Honmoku container wharf, a gantry crane, the Symbol Tower at the tip of the Honmoku Pier. The ship turned left at a quarantine point and sailed back to Yamashita Park, taking the same course as we did in our outward journey. After getting off the ship, we gathered under a tree, thanked to all the participants, announced our next event, and then said good-bye.
