It was a pleasant day reminding us of Indian summer. Everywhere people looked busy preparing for the New Year. A “Happy New Year” sign had been put up at the main Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and, on its Haiden, three casks of sake and three straw bags of rice had been presented. The trainees, who will stay for six weeks in Japan, were surprised at clean, dust-free Narita Airport. Some of them showed keen interest in our public transportation system, culture and Japanese language. Every one of them was positive enough to speak to us. Conversation with the trainees was one of the purposes of this tour. At Hasedera Temple, all of them climbed up the trail leading to the top of the hill, where we could enjoy a wonderful view of Kamakura. As leaves had all fallen, Kamakura looked larger than usual. The extensive sea, mountains, and town were really beautiful. I could have a very good day with the trainees today.
Our Last 2010 Kamakura Guiding for AOTS Trainees in a Friendly Atmosphere
We did our last guiding of this year in a pleasant Indian summer. I took charge of five trainees (four from India and one from Vietnam) with other KSGG members. I could carry out my work decently, because the other members were all experts and the two observers had long experience in foreign countries. The four trainees from India, who work at the same Japanese automobile company, were very agreeable and united, for they were friendly and built up a sense of fellowship not only with themselves, but also with other trainees. I am impressed with that. Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine was less crowded than usual in preparation for the New Year. At Hasedera Temple, we could enjoy a wonderful view of Sagami Bay from its hill. Kotokuin Tempe was very popular among the trainees as usual. The trainees were involved in taking pictures. Finally, at the end of the tour, the group of Chinese trainees started singing with KSGG members joining. Just like the weather of the day, we could close our last guide of this year in a warm, pleasant atmosphere
