To see a lot of KSGG members at the rendezvous point in the heat; I realized how
eager and passionate they are about guiding the trainees around Kamakura. The sea breeze felt good; the lotus flowers on the pond at Hachimangu Shrine and the oranges
and flowers offered at the Great Buddha were very beautiful for the *Bon Festival. It
was a very good day for us to hear and appreciate the words of gratitude from the
trainees in their farewells.
*Bon: a great popular festival of Japan held July 13 to 16 when the spirits of ancestors are supposed to revisit the household altars – called also Feast of Lanterns (WTID)
★ Guiding them around Yuigahama Beach for the first time
The four trainees I guided were from Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong in China, and were very much interested in the sea. The sun glared upon Yuigahama Beach and the heat reflected from the sand was really scorching, but the wind was bracing. One female trainee took off her shoes, rolled up her pants a little, and soaked her feet in the sea water to have fun. As she said, “I soaked my feet in the sea for the first time,” and
looked very much moved, I felt happy to know that my guiding had been rewarded.
