The visitors are a German and Russian couple living in Switzerland. Putting my hands on my head regarding their requests, I went out to do some research beforehand and let them know how long it takes to get to each place and where the lockers are. I received an email saying that they felt like they had a friend in Japan.
On the guiding day, it rained a little from the morning. After they left a large amount of luggage in a locker in Kamakura Station, we left for Hokokuji Temple. It was a blissful moment to drink powdered green tea listening to the sound of rain in the bamboo garden.
From Tsurugaoka Hachimanngu Shrine we went up the Kofukurozaka Slope and then appreciated the characteristics of Zen-style architecture at a steep slope of the side road of Chojuji Temple. There we were surrounded by students on a school excursion from Fukushima and took pictures with them.
The moss in Hasedera Temple was fresher and more beautiful than ever due to rain. The pink flowers of mitsubatsutsuji (rhododendron dilatatum) were so vivid. Their comment was “Japanese temples are really wonderful because each has its own beauty.” At Kamakura Station, I saw them off bound for Nikko.
