Ms.T as the main instructor and the other KSGG members instructed how to make Obento (lunch box), which is popular even overseas. At first we began to make side dishes. The participants divided all the preparations among them, washing ingredients, cutting them, making nikujaga (meat and potato stew), deep-fried chicken, omelet, lotus root kinpira (fried lotus root). Next mothers made rice balls of Snoopy and Kitty with cooked rice. They challenged to cut a rabbit out of the pieces of apples and did so clumsily. They added boiled vegetables and made efforts to arrange them beautifully in their own lunch box with rice balls. Among mothers, there was one father. He worked on cooking eagerly and arranged his big lunch box neatly, which was heartwarming. Each participant enjoyed making a Japanese style lunch box with their own sense and arrangement and all of them tasted delicious obento. I was glad to hear that they were pleased and wanted to make one for their children.
