The visitor was an energetic woman from UAE, who visited five to six places such as Nikko, Hiroshima, and so on in 16 days. She made plans to travel around Japan because she is very interested in Japanese old history, culture, food among other things. When in Kamakura, she asked me many questions one after another such as the difference between Shintoism and Buddhism, the purpose of the Shichi-Go-San Festival, if unlucky years are for Japanese and also foreign people and so on, I tried my best but I couldn’t answer all the questions smoothly.
She enjoyed dumplings in sweet bean soup while walking on the Komachidori Shopping Street, ate Japanese dishes for lunch, bought Japanese sake made in Kamakura for her father-in-law. And also she was happy to buy a 80-centimeter Japanese sword for her husband at a sword shop.
It was a pity that we could walk around only half of Sankeien Garden because we didn’t have enough time. As she was very curious about what she saw, she tried to see, hear, eat and buy everything. I had a nice day with her having an exciting chat with her during that time.
