The visitor, whose son lives in Yokohama,
already visited Kyoto and Nara. First, we browsed around Motomachi Shopping
Street looking at Japanese table wares and clothes, and then enjoyed looking at
table wares set for Christmas at some Western houses in Yamate. She took a lot of photos of a Japanese-style
Christmas tree and Christmas decoration using Jubako (stacked boxes), Japanese table wares and sashes. At the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery, we
saw the exhibition showing how British people contributed to the westernization
of Japan after Japan was opened. I had
difficulty finding a good restaurant for her because she was allergic to some
foods. Even in a coffee shop, she cared
about ingredients in their cakes and had one with ingredients often used in the
U.K.

On the way to
a restaurant for lunch we did window shopping. Though she went to a conveyer belt sushi restaurant with her son on the previous
day, she had only a little because she doesn’t like raw fish. She was happy when I suggested her having
curry and rice. We had curry and rice at
a famous and popular restaurant. It was so delicious that she liked it very
much. Then we went to Tsurugaoka
Hachimangu Shrine after dropping by some shops such as a Kamakurabori lacquer
ware shop and others. She was smiling
when she saw new born babies held by their parents visiting the shrine to pray
for their happiness and good health and junior high school students who were on
a school trip. She looked happy to enjoy
taking a walk on a beautiful day. We
said good bye at her hotel.
