[Place] Kenchoji Temple
[Participants] 3 Americans (2 women and 1 man), 1 Bulgarian woman, and 1 Japanese woman
[Attendants] 2 KSGG members
We arrived at Kenchoji Temple after walking under the Japanese apricot trees with some ume blossoms opening up. We felt solemn when we walked through the main gate of the temple. At hojo (abbot's hall) where we meditated, we listened to a priest's explanations in English and then experienced zazen meditation three times. Being young, our visitors are ductile and supple. So they seemed to have meditated smoothly. After the meditation, we talked with the priests, drinking tea in the hall. The truthful priest attracted the students. He politely answered questions such as the life of a priest and what one should do to become a priest. He said, "To continue mediating is the most important. The older you become, the deeper your understanding of zazen becomes." This was a very suggestive comment.
