“Best Wishes to the Trainees having the Exotic New Year Far Away from their Homes!”--A Year-End Party at AOTS (YKC)

[Date & Time] Wednesday, December 31 at 17:00 ~ 21:00
[AOTS Attendants] About 100 trainees from China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, etc.
[Attendants] 8 KSGG Members (including their families)
[Language] English

After a rice-cake making performance, the party started at 18:20. Then, after drinking and eating for a while, songs and dances of each country were hosted by AOTS staffs and presented by the trainees one after another. They fully showed their youth and energy. As there were some trainees the KSGG attendants had guided on their tour of Kamakura, they had a nice chat. A female KSGG member’s daughter sang a song in a beautiful voice with her mother’s accompaniment. Then the male KSGG members sang “Shiretoko Ryojo” in chorus.
The party ended at 21:00. It was such a very pleasant and exciting party with nice food that we felt uplifted. The trainees said that they would go to Hakkeijima Island Park for the New Year countdown as soon as the party was over. A KSGG attendant, who will go to Papua New Guinea to service as senior overseas volunteer in mid-January, said later, “I hope the New Year will be full of hopes for the trainees celebrating it in Japan far away from their homes.”
