The guest in his forties was about 185 centimeters tall and well-proportioned. He said he was lightly dressed as it was warmer in Japan than in Seattle. In a winter morning there were only a few people at the Hachimangu Shrine, and we saw a youngster, probably a student preparing for an entrance examination.
The guest admired that he is deeply religious for his age, for youngsters seldom go to church in the U.S.
Since he said he liked Japanese food, especially noodle soup, we had some at a restaurant near Hasedera’s overlook. Later, when he was walking on the bridge eating takoyaki cakes he bought on Enoshima Island, one seahawk suddenly swooped down on his takoyaki cakes and snatched one away, leaving scars of the seahawk’s claws on his hand. The attendant regretted that he had failed to look out for such seahawks flying over Enoshima Island.
