The visitors were a married couple who were on board Diamond Princess. They embarked from Yokohama. After enjoying cruising in the sea around Japan and going back to Yokohama, they will take a voyage for 6 weeks to Sydney via every port in Asia. The 115,000-ton luxury cruise ship has approximately 1,300 rooms and 14 stories. There were 2,700 passengers on
board. They explored each port of call, enjoying their time on the ship in their own way.
Since the visitors like walking about towns, I guided them to Kannai, Yamashita-cho, Yamate, Yokohama Chinatown, and Sankeien Garden, explaining Yokohama and having a chat with them. At the Hotel New Grand, we had a good conversation while looking at old pictures. We talked about General Macarthur who stayed at this hotel and about the battle ship Missouri renovated after World War II of which the visitors observed the inside when she made a port call at Sydney. While looking at the picture of Babe Ruth, they said that among the passengers of the ship there was an old man who had met Babe Ruth before. The old pictures made our conversation enjoyable.
At Yamate, we visited the Western-style buildings. The wife said to the husband that it would be good to live here. At Sankeien Garden, they admired the harmony of the garden, the
buildings, and nature. I felt lucky to be a guide when I saw they were profoundly relaxed.
