First, we explained about tempura
(deep fried seafood and vegetables) and then the students practiced
Japanese conversation such as how to order, how to pay, how to read numbers and
so on in the classroom of Saint Maur International School. Then we moved to a tempura restaurant called “Fukunishi” at Minato Mirai 21. In the restaurant, all of the staff members
were good at serving foreign customers, behaved politely and had no problem
with changing ingredients (tempura
pieces). Since we had to sit at two
tables, the two KSGG members sat at each table separately to answer various
kinds of questions from the students.
All of them saw the tempura
curiously and ate up all of the tempra
served. At the end, they tried paying
the bills in Japanese. Most of the mothers
at Saint Maur International School stay in Japan only for a short time because
their husbands are often transferred to other countries. They have to move to different countries
every two or three years and it is stressful for their sons and daughters. The mothers looked sad when they said, “We
have to hold a farewell party very often.”
